Let’s face it, painting your home isn’t as easy as you would think. It is such a daunting task, time-consuming, and super frustrating as well, especially if you don’t know what you are doing. Having said that, we are going to give you a number of tips that would really help you to make the painting work a lot easier and smooth. Without further ado, here we go;
Clear the room you are painting – a painting job tends to get a lot messy and as such, if you do it when all your furniture is in the room, you will mess them up. Also, the task does involve a lot of walking around, and so, you will need a lot of space, and with the furniture, of course, you won’t be able to move freely. If you have items that you don’t wish to remove from the room, you cover them with drop cloths. You can also cover the floor as well, especially when painting the ceiling, to protect it from paint spills, which would damage it.
Use tape to cover the doors, windows, and baseboards –painter’s tape is the other item that you will need to make your painting work easier. The tape can be used to mask parts that you don’t want the paint to cover, and can also be used to create crisp lines. The good thing about this tape is that when you tape it on large surfaces, you would be able to remove it cleanly without leaving a sticky residue behind. But when using the tape, make sure that you press it firmly to ensure that the adhesive does wrap perfectly around the edges.
Always use quality brushes for the best results – the brushes you used do have an impact on the results. You see, the brush bristles need to be synthetic or natural for proper results – anything too dense must be avoided at all costs and they can result in crumping. If the brushes you are about to use had been used before must be cleaned before you use them, to avoid a bacteria build-up. This way, you will have a pretty smooth experience.
