Do you have wallpaper installed a while back and want it removed? If so, you are in the right place. as you may know, when installing wallpapers, most professionals use the Glue-and-paste method, which means that its removal won’t be a walk in the park. It won’t be the one we normally tear off the wall, it will be a process that not many people understand. Luckily, we are here for you. In this article, we will tell you a few easy-to-follow steps that would guarantee easy removal without damaging the walls. They are as follows;
Prepare well – obviously, the first step would be to prep the area you are working in, where you clear everything hung on the wall, including knick-knacks, nails, paintings, etc. you will also need to protect the floor and walls. With blue tape, cover the baseboard and wall sockets, and also set the floor paper covering in place. If the wallpaper was installed using the paste, it will definitely get messy, and you don’t want that on your floors.
Score – once everything is ready, now it’s time to remove the wallpaper. There is a tool that you can rely on to do that known as the wallpaper roller remover. With this tool, you will be able to dig deep enough into the wallpaper – but not far enough to reach the wall. Ensure that you cover the entire wall evenly.
Spray – then, spray the entire wall with a wallpaper remover solution to break down the glue underneath the wallpaper. The solution needs to get under the wallpaper evenly. After that, you can start peeling off the paper, and before yanking at the corners, make sure that the wall soaks the solution for at least 10 minutes. This is important as it allows all the glue to come out.
Peel – if necessary, use more solution and a paint remover to get rid of the more difficult splotches. Also, remember to throw away all the peeled wallpaper immediately, as it still has some wet glue on the underside, and you don’t want it to dry up on the carpet or floor.
Clean – once the wallpaper is down and put away, remove any residue still remaining on the wall – especially the glue as you don’t want to apply paint over the glue. You can use a foam brush and some warm water to scrub the wall and then wipe it with a clean rag. Once everything is in order, just throw away all the trash
